Sweden Mohamad Amini

A man in his 40s who is believed to be from Afghanistan was arrested today for probable cause on suspicion of first raping a woman in Norberg, and then pushing her down a mine shaft. The man is said to have come to Sweden in connection with the refugee crisis in 2015, has been denied a residence permit, but has nevertheless remained in the country.

It was on Friday afternoon that a passing father with children heard a woman calling for help from a mining hole at Långgruvan west of Avesta, in Norberg municipality. It turned out that the woman, who comes from Afghanistan, had been raped, pushed into the mine hole and left to die there.

A man in his 40s was arrested over the weekend and arrested on Monday on suspicion of rape and attempted murder. He was requested on Tuesday afternoon to be detained on probable cause on suspicion of the crimes.

Mysterious three-year-old father

The man now in custody is said to have come to Sweden in connection with the refugee crisis in 2015, but does not have a residence permit. He has remained in the country and did not want to return to his homeland.

– He has a coordination number in Sweden and then you are not registered, an administrator at the Tax Agency tells Samnytt.

The man calls himself Mohamad Amini, speaks Persian and is according to the birth information he stated 41 years old. However, his identity has not been proven, and Swedish authorities have not been able to clarify which country he is a citizen of. However, there are many indications that he comes from Afghanistan.

Of court documents that Samnytt has read, the man has three children, but no wife.

Did not want to get married

According to information to Aftonbladet , the woman found in the mining hole between Avesta and Norberg was a woman that Mohamad Amini wanted to marry. However, the woman refused the man’s proposal, and he then took revenge by raping her and pushing her into the mine hole.

– She’s been lucky. It was a little snow at the bottom of the hole that she may have landed on that may have dampened the fall. But it is still a high altitude. It usually does not end so well when you fall from 20 meters, says Lars Johansson, force leader at the rescue service in Avesta, to the evening newspaper.

The woman was celebrated out of the mine shaft by helicopter. Severely chilled and taken away, she flew by rescue helicopter directly to Falu Hospital. It is not yet clear how long the woman was stuck in the mine hole before she was rescued.

Previously convicted

Mohamad Amini has previously been convicted of a crime. He has twice been convicted of illegal driving and once of minor drug offenses. Each time, the penalty has stopped at a fine.

During the illegal driving in 2021, the man stated that he has an Afghan driving license.

Amini was convicted of a crime for the first time in 2019. It was in connection with that that he received his coordination number, because he had no identity before that.

– It was the police who requisitioned the coordination number in 2019, the administrator at the Swedish Tax Agency tells Samnytt.
