Chernivtsi erasing history

In Chernivtsi, it was decided to remove the panel from the Central Square that reproduced the deed issued by Alexander the Good on October 8, 1408, which documented the Romanian city.

The announcement was made on Monday, a day before the visit of the Romanian delegation to Kiev, led by Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca and which included the President of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu and where, according to official information, he would have discussed the observance of the rights of Romanians in Ukraine in the same way that the rights of Ukrainians (now not a few, on the contrary) in Romania are ensured. Even the next day, during the visit of the “second man in the state”, president of the senate Florin Cîțu, the problem was not addressed in any way.

This operation shows:

1 – That Ukraine continues the same policy of denationalization and defiance of the Romanian state.

2 – That the Romanian intelligence services failed to put on the agenda of the “high emissaries” at the gate of the Kiev mini-country a problem that had been officially announced just one day before their visit.

Practically, the Ukrainian authorities in Chernivtsi started the action of removing from the Central Square the panel on which was the document of Alexander the Good, which testifies to the first documentary attestation of the city, even on the day when the Bucharest delegation marched to Kiev.

According to a press release of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, sent on Monday, April 25, through a post on the Facebook page, the document with the first attestation of the city will be replaced with an image illustrating the Ukrainian flag. A trident and the stars on the European Union flag would be illustrated in the center of the flag, the news portal of Romanians from Bukovina informed on Wednesday. To make matters worse, the unveiling will take place on International Labor Day, May 1.

According to Sergii Osaciuk, the head of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration (FB capture below), who came up with the initiative, this new symbol would remind everyone of “our state’s strong desire and rapid movement towards the European Union.”

The decision to remove the copy of the document issued by the Moldavian ruler Alexandru cel Bun aroused the indignation of the Romanian internet users in the land, states the quoted source who also recalls that the city of Chernivtsi was documented on October 8, 1408 in a privilege granted by Alexandru cel Bun, ruler of Moldavia (1400–1432), merchants from Lviv.

It is interesting to note that Ukrainians from Chernivtsi also revolted when they heard the news, as can be seen from the messages posted in the triumphalist Facebook post praising the acts of bravery of the warrior Serghei (approximate translation):

Irina Trifanenko

It’s not time to spend on banners, invoking patriotism, better to transfer money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine – they desperately need them

Olesya Chelnyak

That is to change the history and spirit of our “nation”, respectively to eliminate the historical mention of trade between Moldova and Poland? So now this is the direction of our region? With the manuscript you would have been interested in the whole life of Alexander the Good. Bucovina is emptying!

Anna Yuzifovich

Everything that is too much is not healthy. And this is simply too much. The previous banner is rich in information and useful! He is about Chernivtsi, about our history. We’ve come to measure who has a bigger flag…

Nataly Bilyk

I am against Mr. Osadchuk’s new idea😡😡😡😡😡

History must be remembered! Save the old banner!

The translation of the Ukrainian announcement, given without appeal, that it is only a “state of war”, sounds something like this:

“In the Central Square in Chernivtsi, the banner on the wall behind the Taras Shevchenko monument will be replaced.
Instead of the image of the diploma of the Moldavian master Alexander the Good, in which the first written mention about Chernivtsi was recorded, here is a large, yellow-blue flag.
The head of the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration, Sergii Osaciuk , is the initiator of this replacement.
At the center of the flag will be a star-shaped trident, as it is on the European Union flag.
“I hope this symbol will remind us all of our country’s strong desire and rapid movement towards the European Union,” said Sergei Osachuk.
The banner is scheduled to be replaced by May 1. ”

Chernivtsi, like other Moldavian fairs, Iași, Bacău, Tighina, Târgu Neamț, Bârlad, Dorohoi, were documented on October 8, 1408 in a trade privilege granted by Alexander the Good, ruler of Moldavia (1400–1432), “councilors and townspeople from the Lviv fair ”, merchants from Galicia and so on. This is the document that will be thrown in the trash:
