In a troubling incident captured on video, a woman in Melbourne faced a violent arrest by a male police officer after being found not wearing a face mask, a breach of public health orders. The footage, filmed by an onlooker, revealed a confrontation that escalated when the officer appeared to place his hands around the woman’s neck. The video begins with the police officer engaging with the 21-year-old woman, who is not wearing a face mask, in violation of the coronavirus restrictions implemented on July 19. Melbourne residents are mandated to wear masks, and failure to comply results in a $200 fine.
The situation turned violent when the officer grabbed the woman’s arm, leading to a struggle. The officer then seemed to place his hands around her neck. The woman resisted, exclaiming, “Get the f*** off me.” Another person, identified as her boyfriend, filmed the incident, urging the officer to release her, citing a medical exemption for not wearing a mask.
Despite her protests, the male officer continued to restrain the woman, eventually bringing her to the ground. In subsequent clips, more officers arrived, surrounding the woman, who was lying face down on the footpath. The arrest, according to Victoria Police, occurred as the woman refused to provide identification for breaching health directives. The woman, having a medical exemption for not wearing a mask, was not fined for the mask violation. The video does not show the start of the altercation and judging by the way the bitch is carrying on she went out of her way to cause trouble.
