In France, a man named Mamadou Diakhabi was arrested last month for sexually assaulting a woman, who is reported to be a nun. The incident occurred in the village of Sarthe, Pays de la Loire, around 6 p.m. on June 30. Diakhabi allegedly blocked the victim alongside his truck on a road in the village, where he is accused of grabbing her, licking her face, and fondling her breasts. The assault was interrupted when an oncoming vehicle approached.
Prior to the attack, Diakhabi had visited the victim’s home two days earlier, making incoherent remarks and asking her to pray for him, as reported by the Catholic blog site, Le Salon Beige. Following the incident, French authorities arrested and detained Diakhabi.
However, new information about the suspect’s background has emerged. Born in the Guinean capital of Conakry, the 32-year-old Diakhabi had moved to France but is currently homeless and jobless. It has come to light that he was already known to the police for committing similar offenses. Moreover, he is residing in France illegally, as he had been issued an order to leave French territory in July 2021.
Despite the previous deportation order, it remains unclear whether any enforcement actions were taken by French authorities or if the order will now be executed following his arrest and the subsequent charges of sexual assault.
Diakhabi is now the subject of a summons, and criminal proceedings are scheduled to take place in the nearby town of Le Mans on September 1. The case has gained attention and was first reported by right-wing activist Damien Rieu, who is associated with Éric Zemmour’s Reconquête party.
