Sanna Marin party

Sanna Marin, the prime minister of Finland, said that she partied “in a boisterous fashion” following the publication of private tapes, but she claimed that she is upset that the video, which drew criticism from political rivals, was leaked to the media.

Videos revealed Finland’s 36-year-old leader Marin dancing in a home with buddies.

“These private videos were shot in a private setting. I regret that the public was made aware of these, “Marin spoke with journalists in Kuopio, Finland.

“I spent a night with my friends. We just partied, also in a boisterous way. I danced and sang,” she said.

In the video, Marin and five other people can be seen dancing and posing for the camera. In another film, Marin can be seen singing toward the camera while lying on the ground.

It had led some of Marin’s detractors to charge that her conduct was improper for a prime minister. An opposition MP named Mikko Karna tweeted that Marin need to take a drug test.

According to Marin, there was alcohol use at the party, but she was not aware of any drug use.

Meanwhile, her supporters have supported her and accused detractors of using a double standard.

“Why is it she can’t go out after work? Do we anticipate that our leaders won’t be people?” Professor of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University in Sweden, Ashok Swain, tweeted.

Marin has refuted claims that the recordings’ disclosure was an attempt at extortion. “I’m not the target of extortion. The prime minister stated, “These are private movies and they were not intended to be made public. They were shot this summer in a private home. I won’t say whose house it is.”

It’s not the first time that Finland has politicized Marin’s personal life. She earlier issued a public apology in 2021 when a photo of her in a club appeared as a result of Finland’s foreign minister testing positive for Covid-19.
