Convicted acid attacker who murdered Mother of 3 launches Jihadist Terror Attack at Prison Guards

Xeneral Imiuru, a 20-year-old man who convicted of murdering a nurse and mother of three with “industrial strength” acid, launched a terror attack on workers at Winchester Prison from his segregated cell last Thursday.

After being locked up for his heinous crimes in 2018, Imiuru reportedly became radicalized as he became close to jihadist prisoners. During the early hours of Thursday morning, he apparently faked his suicide in an attempt to lure unsuspecting officers into his cell. When the guards arrived to check on him, he lunged at them with a sharpened instrument, The Telegraph reports.

Luckily, no staff members were injured during the attack.

Imiuru represents Britain’s first convicted acid attack murderer, who in 2018 was convicted of murdering Joanna Rand, a 47-year-old nurse, and mother of three, with high-strength sulfuric acid.

“Police are investigating an incident at HMP Winchester on Feb 13. Violence against our hard-working staff will not be tolerated and those responsible will face tough punishment, including more time behind bars,” a spokesperson for the prison said.

The attack is the second of its kind in the British prison system this year. Earlier this year, Brusthom Ziamani – a terrorist “emir” – and one of his minions carried out attacks with makeshift knives against several prison staff members while shouting “Allhau Akbar!”

“It’s not clear yet what the motive is but the features of this attack in what ought to be the most secure environment in any prison suggest audacity and careful pre-meditation at the least” said Ian Acheson, a former prison governor who in 2016 carried out a review of extremism in prisons, told The Times.

“It’s extremely important that the police investigation is speedy and transparent and that a terrorist motive is thoroughly investigated.”

As Voice of Europe has chronicled, acid attacks have become increasingly common throughout Britain, with the vast majority of them taking place in London. Over the past three years, the UK has seen an average of fifteen acid attacks per day.
