In what is arguably the biggest upset of the 2016 European Championship, Iceland knocked out England with a stunning 2-1 result to carry on to a quarter-final match against France. England had only one goal during their match with Iceland and that goal came from a penalty.

Naturally, shocked football fans staged an internet pitch invasion to protest… and poke fun. Here’s the best of what they had to offer…

Twitter trolls couldn’t help but bring up the equally (ok, possibly even more) shocking result of #Brexit and the subsequent mess that has been made in Britain/England ever since.
