The UK government has been slammed for ‘arrogance’ as far as the case of the WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in concerned, local media reported.
Argentina’s envoy to the UK Alicia Castro denounced the British government’s “arrogance” in dealing with the Assange case, British media reported.
In an interview with a Buenos Aires radio station, Castro said the diplomatic row between Britain and Ecuador “resembles its declarations regarding the Malvinas question, with which Britain also disregards international law”.
The row erupted when Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa announced his country’s decision to grant Assange political asylum.
After the announcement, Britain threatened to storm Ecuador’s embassy in London, where the activist has been seeking refuge since June 19.
But, the UK government was forced to withdraw its threat after Latin American countries unanimously supported Ecuador and condemned the UK Foreign Office warning.
Both Argentina and the UK claim ownership over the Malvinas islands – called Falklands by the UK. Britain has repeatedly ignored UN resolutions to address the issue.
“To Argentinians, the threat shows the arrogance of British diplomacy. We are not surprised by it,” said Castro.
Castro added that by threatening to seize Assange from Ecuador’s London embassy, the UK was ‘violating international law’ and said the Organisation of American States had joined together to ‘defend international law against the British challenge’.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry condemned as “highly regrettable” Argentina’s announcement of the previous day that it recognized Palestine as “a free and independent state” within its borders prior to the 1967 Six-Day War.
The decision was highly “damaging,” foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said, “because they are in fact shattering the foundation of the peace process.”

In England, the cradle of international banking usury, not enough to have invaded the sovereign territory of Latin America, not to install in the Malvinas Islands the largest NATO base in South America (suspected of possessing nuclear weapons), or revile Brazil to have put a Brazilian sweeper to clean the end of their shameful Olympics.
According to the recent events of international significance, England feels more comfortable releasing a dictator like Pinochet and claims to be the champion of justice by threats of assault by force Ecuador’s embassy.
