A 24-year-old Lebanese immigrant has been crowned Miss U.S.A.
Rima Fakih, from Dearborn, Michigan, is believed to be the first Muslim to win the pageant despite nearly stumbling over in her evening gown last night.
Born in Lebanon, she emigrated with her parents to the U.S. as a baby. They moved to Michigan in 2003, where she was later crowned Miss Michigan.
Miss Fakih competed against 50 others in the swimsuit, evening gown and interview competitions. She nearly fell while finishing her walk in a long, strapless gown because of the length of its train – but managed to recover.
Miss Oklahoma Morgan Elizabeth Woolard was first runner-up after handling a question about Arizona’s strict new immigration law. She said she supports it.
Some would think that “Miss USA,” be her Black, Brown, White, etc., would first and foremost have to be American. Guess not…
Not to mention that her victory was already becoming tarnished last night by revelations that she won a pole dancing contest at a strip club in Detroit in 2007.

She’s lovely, but is she a naturalized citizen of the U.S. or is she still a citizen of Lebanon? If she’s not a U.S. citizen she should not have competed.

She may be just pretty enough to win a beauty pageant in Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia or the Sudan but, her skin in too dark for her to be pretty in America. The competition in America is just too much for her to actually win. These beauty pageants have become nothing more than scams. The Lebanese immigrant is beautiful and I am happy for her triumph in the beauty pageant. However the prize should have gone to a native-born American.
Morgan Elizabeth Woolard should have won the contest, as she is a native-born American from the great state of Oklahoma and most properly represents the genetic stock of the American people, as the “typical American girl.”
Further, Ms. Woolard was courageous to take a stand in defense of Arizona’a new immigration/invasion law.
Congratulations to Rima Fakih, for winning the contest as “Fairest of the Fair.” I am sure she will fulfill her role in an exemplary manner.

She’s beautiful! I didn’t see the pagent, but if it was outward beauty the judges were looking for, she fits the part. I don’t think your title was fitting for the story. She is definitely not ugly.
