With these words a black police inspector from Tembisa on the East Rand allegedly scolded the victims of an armed robbery and hijacking attempt in Kempton Park on Monday night.
This officer, whose name is known to Beeld, apparently refused to arrest a black suspect on the scene.
He also refused to open a case after Nic Lubbe, 51, from Kempton Park West, his daughter, Antoenet Cronjé, and her two sons, Morné, 11, and Kyle, 3, were assailed by robbers on Monday night.
‘White dogs’
He ostensibly also refused to allow white members of the Norkem Park police to search the suspects’ car and called them “white dogs”.
Lubbe said he was on his way to drop off his daughter and grandchildren at their house in Terrenure at about 23:00 when he saw a grey Corsa bakkie next to the road in Orange River Street.
Suddenly the Corsa bakkie’s headlights went on to blind Lubbe. Then it was driven into Lubbe’s bakkie from behind.
Three armed men jumped off the back and grabbed Cronjé’s handbag.
Lubbe sped away and later returned to the scene with his wife, Mara, 49, and members of the Norkem Park police office.
A black inspector from the Tembisa roadblock task team was already there with one of the suspects (the driver of the Corsa). The other three got away.
“The inspector said we were white dogs and he told a white policewoman that he would see to it that she was shot dead in a robbery.
“Then he cocked his R5 (rifle) in my face and said it was time that we whites packed our bags and fu**ed off out of the country.”
An eyewitness apparently heard the inspector’s offensive remarks.
“I saw how these people were robbed, but he protected the criminal.”
The inspector apparently did open an accident report. The Corsa driver’s wife then arrived on the scene, posing as a police officer.
One of the Norkem Park police officers said this woman wanted to arrest them when they tried to search the Corsa for “interfering with the scene”.
Lubbe said the woman emptied out the contents of his daughter’s handbag and returned the empty handbag to her.
On Tuesday Lubbe opened a case of armed robbery and attempted hijacking at the Norkem Park police.
Gauteng police spokesperson Superintendent Eugene Opperman said the matter was being investigated “with the view to possible disciplinary steps.”
The Tembisa and provincial police management have expressed their shock at the alleged incident, he said.

There is a fourth group of South African whites, the guilt complex group. People of this group (like Chris) are the ones who constantly try to convince everyone (whites) how guilty they are as a race and how they deserve to be punished, you will see them on every form involving South Africa. They do this in the hopes that Blacks will “forgive them” (as they put it), or feel sorry for them but in reality THEY DON’T CARE, so people like Chris you can drop the act, you’re not going to convince them not to be racist against white people, in-fact you’re just adding fuel to the fire.

what happened in this story is sad and disgusting. People like that do not deserve to live. There are many disgusting race stories from both races. All the racist parties don’t deserve to live. Regarding our government, I myself will be doing my part in voting against ANC.. They are an extremely corrupt government and need to be removed. They cannot do their jobs and most are not even qualified for them. South Africa as a whole has not learnt anything in the past years since. I do believe though that South African peoples do have some attitude problems – case in point this policeman. People from all parts of society need to want to change. I believe that this ANC regime are fascist racist bigots . If we can start recognising that – then we may have a hope. That this regime and their ilk have the gall and temerity to constantly talk about the evils of apartheid yet now they have implemented legislation that is openly racist. Oh well, I look forward to South Africa being barred from world sporting events and being isolated because of their bigoted policies. 1. It is VERY VERY easy to make all sorts of comments when living abroad (as I currently am), and to take all sorts of moral high-ground .. ..so I try not to.
2. Facts are facts, and remain facts, regardless of race / skin colour / political affiliation / life values and so forth.
3. As far as this article goes, I see ZERO reference to the victims of racial hatred or baiting the police officer.
4. Chambering a round in a R5 pointed at a person should in and of it’s self be a very serious offence, read in a court of law as a threat with the intent to intimidate. An officer of the law should not be allowed to act in this manner to a member of the public not showing an overt threat to the police officer. I do not care what colour said officer or member of the public are.
5. Re-read the story, replace any mention of black with ANC (for example) and white with IFP. The FACTS of the case REMAIN appalling.

I think the change was good when he became the president, but the ANC shouldn’t keep on ruling just because their first president was an outstanding man. I have read most of the articles and responses and can see both sides of the coin, just for the record I am White and lived well under apartheid but I was one of the majority of Whites that voted yes in the referendum to end Apartheid via negotiations for peaceful change and under Mandela things started out in the right direction but have gone down hill since . I personally survived an attempted mugging/hi-jack situation as far back as 1993 and again in April of this year . In between those 2 events my eldest son has had a car stolen [2000]and was involved in my latest hi-jacking [his car]along with our wives and his infant son my middle son was hi-jacked off his bicycle in broad daylight [1990] and was relieved of his car by 2 thugs [1994] and another a year later my youngest son has been mugged at least 4 times that I know about my wife managed to drive away from from a want to be hi-jacker , had her bag snatched in her place of employment and was with me in the most recent incident so I know about crime and police interaction when reported some are down right rude and uninterested while as in the most recent incident I could not have asked for better handling both directly afterwards while taking statements right up to the recovery of the vehicle and contents so you get the good the bad and the ugly in all walks of life As for packing my bags I have as much right to this country as any black person they too emigrated over time from central Africa they are also not indigenous to this beloved country we share .

The first comment is almost believable , if you live in a perfect world. The facts are you will probably be killed for helping them. It is interesting that Chris says he wants to help blacks, this exact statement is where our whole problem lies. We have always looked after them and helped them. It is time they are left to build their own schools, create their own jobs and pay their own way. We all know they can’t understand that the money paid for services are supposed to actually be used for services, so they will continue to misuse resources for their own benefit. This will result in more strikes and more protests until nothing is left. It will force us to find other ways of fending for ourselves as we have always done and they will continue to sell the only thing they have to offer, which is labor. They will always try to make us feel quilty for exploiting them. As soon as we can allow them to actually upgrade their way of thinking and understand that someone has to be the boss and someone has to do the work, maybe then they can be referred to as people instead of being referred to as blacks and maybe then we can start building a better country.

I work in a guesthouse in the northern side of Pretoria. I also live in this guesthouse. This guesthouse is known to be one of the safest in the area with electric fencing, beams, motion sensors and cameras.
For ten weeks we had a group of 20 police officers stay there, and I have never been this afraid in my own home in my whole life!!
They have no respect for safety while thumbling around drunk with a firearm (multiple shots have went off) bringing whores night after night, no respect for staff or the owner and even other guests while shouting and screaming, as well as loud music at 2 in the morning.
I have never been in the company of such a group of complete scumbags in my life, and that is who we should depend upon for safety and security??! What a joke

Chris why is it that the whites must help the blacks. You do know that the black middle and upper classes are growing at a rate. There are 52 000 000 people in SA of which only 6 000 000 pay tax the rest ride on the backs of the taxpayer who are mostly white. I agree that it is up to all of us in SA to change our attitudes before we see fundamental change in the country. We could start with those on the Bloemfontein campus who urinated in the food of black staff and finish with our president who steals from the poor to build himself another mansion. South Africa has so much potential in the good people but we are going nowhere until some bad people, on both sides of the spectrum, have a fundemental change of attitude.

People that work with me in the saps that you trusted with your live are arrested for things like this and way can the saps not do there job she is not a loud to say or do something at the seen because her car is involved if she is in the saps. Hi Chris. Thanks for your input. If you have read the article carefully, you would have realized this has nothing to do with being racist, it is purely principle. The occupants of the Corsa bakkie are the baddies. Peoples lives are in danger, and all of a sudden the driver of the bakkies wife arrives, posing as a police officer. If she was in uniform (which I doubt) will clearly show that the police are protecting criminals, and do not even have respect for white officers by telling the lady that he will see that she is shot in a robbery. She stops her supposed white colleagues from searching the bakkie. Our country is moving to a second Zimbabwe because of the culture as you call it. They want to be in control. I agree that I probably took the wrong story to comment on as what happened there is truly unfortunate and it shows how [like you said] our country is being influenced by corruption as well as racial tension. I think I got a bit off the topic of the article due to some of the topic comments that I read before I wrote mine. I also think that I wrote it, because it is something that I have thought about for a very long time and wanted to share it with everyone.
I still see that Whites and Blacks are not showing compassion towards each other and all I would really like to see is that we show this with our actions.
I am also fully aware that what I mentioned in my first comment can not solve all of SA’s problems and that a lot need to change and I am sure it should start with our government and president.
One last thing. I will complain about corruption and crime, and if I am forced to leave my country, because I love it so much just as you and all the people that commented here. I would just like to see us as whites, do what we can through actions to really show that we have empathy and compassion towards blacks. I think that it can only help.
And I surely pray that nothing bad will to your family or mine.

And I really do hear what you say and I agree fully that both cultures should change and that it takes two to tango, but one thing is also true; if both are waiting for the other one to start, we will never tango.

This is disgusting treatment and a lot of the cops are racist and are trigger happy. When I was hi jacked and flagged some metro police down as I had been waiting for a half and hour for the police to arrive all they said was sorry about your loss but her you are still alive, and was told that they could not help me and that I had to wait for the police to arrive and that took another hour and 3 quarters as they said they did not have a van available, well this sucks I was a woman on my own in Sydney Road and I was treated like the criminal. It is shocking to think that we have to live like this. And as far as I am concerned majority of the non whites are far more racist than the minority of whites who are still racist. People should get a life and look to the future not the past if they cannot do this there will never be change.

I am a white Afrikaans South African and I can tell you that there are 3 types of white people in SA with regards to this topic of racism.
1st] People who speak silently or openly about racist topics. People who live in the past and cannot move on and who are brainwashed by their fathers and who decided to believe them. [If you get angry, you are probably one].
2nd] Then you also get the white people who are not racist and gets along with black people, but they don’t do anything to try and help black South Africans and help the bad image that the whites have.
3rd] You get the white people who understands that our past is complex and that wrong things was done. People who accepted that they have an opportunity to create a better future. Who goes out and support all SA people and who goes into black areas and try to make a difference.
You need to ask yourself where do you fall. Group 1, 2 or 3. I almost guarantee it that the the smallest amount of us fall under group 3.
I am currently in group 2, but I am planning to become part of group 3 so I can help change SA to become a better place for all cultures. And if you are honest with yourself, I’m sure all of us want a peaceful and happy country.
I know there are many reasons why people choose to stay in a specific group, but I think that one of the main reasons why white people choose to be in group 1 is because of something that happened to them or a person close to them that was racist (like in the article above), or that they don’t believe that SA can change.
It is sad, because the only way that these racist actions will improve is if and when we as white South Africans truly change and show it. We need to show Africans that we have changed our views that we have sympathy and empathy to all and that we are working towards something better.
I am not saying that black Africans have done nothing wrong, no they have done plenty of things, but before we can truly blame them of anything, we as a culture need to change.
I also know that it would be an illusion to think that any country will always be peaceful and happy, but I am sure that if we have more of the group 3 people and less of group 1 that it would help a lot and will help us get closer to the ideal.

I find it VERY sad that as soon as someone writes a message conveying some rays of hope in our society you get people immediately hurling abuse. Someone talks about rose tinted glasses – if you never looked through them you would be constantly depressed.
