South Korea pledges $45.2 million to fight MERS as death toll reaches 19
South Korea has reported three more fatalities from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), bringing the death toll to 19 in an outbreak that began in May.
South Korea’s Health Ministry on Tuesday also confirmed four new cases, bringing to 154 the total number of confirmed cases.
According to the ministry, 17 of the 154 people have also been cured and released from hospital.

Former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon dies at 85
Israel’s former prime minister, Ariel Sharon, has died at a hospital in Tel Aviv after eight years in coma, Israeli media reported.
Israeli Army Radio said the former premier died on Saturday at the age of 85.
On January 4, 2006, Sharon suffered a stroke and went into a coma, from which he never recovered.
He was being treated at the Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv.
