In a significant development, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, issued a stern warning, declaring that military units will actively block the passage of all ships bound for the occupied territories in the Red Sea. Emphasizing that these vessels would be deemed legitimate targets once they enter Yemen’s territorial waters, General Saree delivered this message against the backdrop of Israel’s ongoing aggressive war and complete blockade on the Gaza Strip.
Addressing the pressing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, General Saree underscored that the lack of essential supplies, particularly food and medicine, could prompt Yemen to take decisive action. He stated unequivocally, “If Gaza does not receive the food and medicine it needs, all ships in the Red Sea bound for Israeli ports, regardless of their nationality, will become a target for our armed forces.”
The Yemeni Armed Forces have recently achieved success in preventing Israeli ships from navigating the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea. General Saree announced that the order to block the passage of all ships to the occupied territories has been issued in response to these successful actions.
Despite this stringent stance, General Saree clarified that global shipping activities, unrelated to the Israeli regime or destined for the ports of the occupied territories, can continue without hindrance. The Yemeni armed forces have been vocal in their support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation, intensifying their operations to assist the people of Gaza.
In a recent development, Yemeni forces executed precision strikes deep inside Israeli-occupied Palestine, showcasing their commitment to bolstering Palestinian resilience. Furthermore, on December 4, the Yemeni army targeted two Israeli ships in the Red Sea, compelling Israeli shipping companies to reroute their vessels to avoid potential attacks by Yemeni forces.
As tensions escalate in the region, Yemen’s resolute position against Israeli actions underscores its commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and challenging the Israeli blockade on Gaza. The situation remains fluid, and the international community closely watches the evolving dynamics in the Red Sea.
