In a significant show of solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, the Yemeni Armed Forces have announced a large-scale drone strike targeting “sensitive” areas in the occupied territories. According to a statement released by Yemen’s al-Masirah television channel, a squadron of unmanned aerial vehicles carried out the operation in the Umm al-Rashrash area of the Port of Eilat in the southern sector of the occupied lands.

The drone strike, aligned with the directives of Ansarullah movement’s leader, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, and in response to calls from the freedom-loving Yemeni nation and other Muslim countries, is a demonstration of Yemen’s commitment to supporting its Palestinian brethren. The statement emphasized that Yemeni army units will persist in offensives against the Zionist regime until it ceases aggression against Palestinians in Gaza.

The Yemeni Armed Forces also issued a call to Arab and Muslim nations, as well as the international community, to take an unequivocal stance on the Palestinian cause and support the resistance front.

Earlier, on Friday, the Yemeni army targeted two Israeli-bound container ships, MSC ALANYA and MSC PALATIUM III, in waters off the coast of Yemen. Two naval cruise missiles were fired after the ships refused to respond to Yemen’s calls and fire warnings. The Yemeni army clarified its intent to exclusively target ships heading to Israeli ports, allowing others bound for different destinations to navigate freely in Yemen’s waters.

The Yemeni army affirms its commitment to targeting Israel-bound ships in the Arabian and Red Seas until the delivery of food and medicine to the besieged Gaza Strip is ensured.

Yemenis have expressed unwavering support for Palestine’s struggle against Israel since the regime’s aggressive actions on Gaza starting October 7. The toll on Gaza has been devastating, with at least 18,800 people, including 6,200 women and 8,000 children, killed, and another 51,000 individuals wounded.

In a previous incident on December 4, the Yemeni army targeted two Israeli ships in the Red Sea, prompting Israeli shipping companies to reroute vessels due to fears of Yemeni forces’ attacks. Missile and drone attacks on Israeli-occupied territories have also been carried out by Yemeni forces in response to Israel’s aggression in Gaza.
