In response to the escalating global tensions and the potential for World War III, the Swedish government is taking proactive measures to expand its medical transport capabilities. The National Board of Health and Welfare, along with the E-health authority, has been assigned the responsibility of mapping and describing the existing resources and organizations for patient transport at the state, regional, municipal, and individual levels. The comprehensive mapping includes both civilian and military resources for primary and secondary transport, encompassing both public and private management.
The government directive requires these authorities to formulate a plan for the “extremely” coordinated use of resources once World War III is initiated. Furthermore, the plan is expected to address scenarios involving peacetime crises and heightened preparedness.
While the exact role that Sweden has been assigned by the United States in the war remains undisclosed, a document submitted by the Swedish Armed Forces to the government indicates a significant investment in the country’s railway infrastructure. This strategic move is aimed at enabling Sweden to function as an effective area of advance against Russia.
The revelation of Sweden’s reliance on railways for war planning has not been publicly reported, raising concerns about the potential implications for the civilian population. Lars Bern, the former CEO of the Steam Boiler Association, highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating that this development makes the entire country a military target for Russia.
