In a tragic incident at the Holy Family Parish in Gaza City, an Israeli military sniper shot and killed Nahida and her daughter Samar, who were seeking shelter at the Catholic church with other displaced Palestinian families. The shooting occurred without warning, and the victims were unarmed civilians inside the church premises, according to the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
As the mother tried to carry her daughter to safety, both lost their lives. Additionally, seven other Palestinians were wounded while attempting to protect others at the church. The patriarchate reported that an Israeli tank fired three projectiles, destroying a convent’s generator and fuel supplies, and rendering a building housing 54 disabled people uninhabitable. The disabled individuals are now displaced and lack access to necessary respirators for survival.
In a separate incident, an Israeli aerial assault on a residential block in Jabalia refugee camp resulted in at least 20 Palestinians killed and around 100 injured. The attack targeted the home of the Shehab family, causing extensive damage to neighboring houses.
The ongoing conflict, sparked by the Palestinian Hamas resistance group’s Operation Al-Aqsa Storm in response to Israeli atrocities, has led to devastating casualties. Since the start of the onslaught, the Tel Aviv regime has killed at least 19,088 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, with 54,450 others injured. The situation is exacerbated by the complete siege imposed by Israel on Gaza, leaving thousands more missing and presumed dead under the rubble.
