The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations announced on Friday that it will dispatch two aircraft to Egypt, following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s directive, to deliver 28 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the people in the Gaza Strip.

The aid shipment, which includes medical supplies and other essential items, will be transferred to the Egyptian Red Crescent Society for further delivery to Gaza.

This marks the second such delivery by Russia to the region in recent times. In October, Russian emergency ministry aircraft transported 27 tonnes of food products to the people of Gaza.

The situation in Gaza escalated on October 7 when the Palestinian group Hamas launched a large-scale rocket attack on Israel and breached the border, resulting in the death and abduction of approximately 200 individuals in neighboring Israeli communities. In response, Israel initiated retaliatory strikes and imposed a comprehensive blockade on the Gaza Strip, home to over 2 million people. The blockade initially hindered the flow of water, food, and fuel into the region but was later relaxed to allow humanitarian aid trucks to enter Gaza.

This recent conflict has caused significant casualties and injuries on both sides, intensifying an already volatile situation in the region.
