Hungary is stung by the European Court of Justice for its attempt to stop the possibility for immigrants from the third world to enter the country and seek asylum.
The law, which was introduced during the corona pandemic, means that Hungary refuses to accept asylum applications from people who crossed the border.
Instead, immigrants who wanted to seek asylum in Hungary have had to do so at the Hungarian embassies in Belgrade and Kiev.
The measure, which has further throttled Third World inflows to Hungary, does not include, for example, Ukrainians fleeing the war.
The European Court of Justice considers that this system constitutes a “disproportionate interference” with the “right” to apply for asylum upon arrival at the Hungarian border.
According to the judgment , the corona pandemic, and Hungary’s desire to stop infected people from entering the country, cannot justify the law either.
