Nuclear bombing of Sweden could be a possible outcome if those in power are serious about their plans for a war in northern Europe. The armed forces are now starting to openly talk about the fact that the Swedish people should be ready for an attack with nuclear weapons.
In some sense, we have to count on either being part of the outcome space or being affected by secondary effects. And there I claim that we have both knowledge and ability, says Chief of Defense Staff Michael Claesson in a longer interview with Dagens Nyheter.
He says that it is indeed a worst case scenario that nuclear weapons can be used, but that it can happen. And by “fallout room” he apparently means that you simply get bombed with nuclear weapons.
The assessment comes after Russia has hinted that nuclear weapons could be used in warfare and that Danish defense intelligence believes that the use of nuclear weapons as a deterrent will take on a more prominent role for Russia.
The armed forces in Sweden are therefore practicing more than before on dealing with the consequences of nuclear warfare and identifying measures that need to be taken in such a situation.
According to the Swedish Armed Forces, Russia sees future NATO membership as a strategic challenge and can threaten Sweden and Finland.
In reality, Swedish and Baltic governments have also carried out a series of apparently strange provocations against Russia of both a military and political nature.
In Latvia, the Russian language was recently banned in schools, and in Stockholm, a decision was recently made to send 50 tanks and a large number of other weapons to Ukraine.
