On Wednesday, Spanish police were searching for 14 migrants who had gotten off of a commercial airplane after it had to make an emergency stop in Barcelona due to what was likely a staged medical issue.
A woman on board the Pegasus Airlines aircraft from Casablanca to Istanbul was ready to give birth when it had to make an emergency landing at Barcelona airport on Tuesday or Wednesday night. In any case, the authorities believed that. According to a source from the prefecture of Catalonia, when the plane touched down, an ambulance and three police patrols arrived to take the pregnant woman to the hospital after she “allegedly lost her water.” Then, however, 27 individuals attempted to eject themselves from the aircraft.
Nine people, including the pregnant lady, were detained while five passengers spontaneously returned to the aircraft. She was detained for disturbing the peace after a medical examination confirmed that she was not ready to give birth.
The police are still actively looking for the 14 additional individuals who were able to flee.
The second occurrence in a year
In barely over a year, there have been two instances of this kind in Spain. Another flight from Casablanca to Istanbul on November 5, 2021, was forced to make an emergency landing on the Spanish island of Mallorca in the Balearic Islands when one of the passengers, who was probably diabetic, became ill and seemed to be in a coma. 21 passengers had left the aircraft while he and a buddy were being evacuated.
The physicians discovered him in fine health when he got to the hospital, but his companion had left. Again, only 12 people were located, and the police were unable to apprehend all of the fugitives, who were mostly Moroccans.
