Reports suggest that Vladimir Putin’s regime in Russia is displaying signs of fear in response to the potential threat of air strikes from Ukraine. Bomb shelter signs have been observed in various locations across Russia, including Belgorod (25 miles from Ukraine), Rostov-On-Don (400 miles away), Novokuznetsk (Siberia), and Moscow.
The placement of these signs coincides with Russia’s Security Council ordering a comprehensive inventory of the country’s bomb shelters, typically located in the basements of residential buildings.
The heightened preparations for potential air strikes from Ukraine come as the U.S. is reportedly considering a proposal from Boeing to supply Ukraine with small precision bombs. The proposed system, known as the Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB), combines the GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb with the M26 rocket motor, providing a range of 100 miles.
If approved, this system would enable Ukraine to target locations far behind the Russian frontlines, expanding its capabilities beyond the 50-mile range of the HIMARS missiles previously received from the U.S.
The move to enhance bomb shelters and the consideration of precision bomb systems reflect growing concerns within the Russian leadership about the evolving dynamics of the conflict and the potential for increased military capabilities on the Ukrainian side.
