According to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Europe is likely to experience a number of hardships as a result of the situation in Ukraine.
But he maintained that the US-led military bloc’s members and their allies should step up their efforts to support Ukrainian forces and continue the conflict.
Stoltenberg acknowledged in his remarks that the turmoil in Ukraine had a detrimental effect on residents of Western nations. Many households in Europe are having a difficult time as a result of rising food and energy costs, he added, but those who are impacted “should remember that the people of Ukraine pay with their blood every day.”
The head of NATO said that if the West gave Ukraine military backing, it may “strengthen Ukraine’s position at the bargaining table.” Supporting Ukraine is the greatest way to promote peace, he said.
He claimed that the weapons Germany is sending to Kiev “save lives” and praised Germany for them.
Russia will attempt to use “winter as a weapon” against Ukraine, according to Stoltenberg. This assertion confirms his most recent warning that Kiev will face challenges in the months ahead.
Early in October, Russia began striking Ukrainian energy facilities after Kiev was charged with attacking important Russian infrastructure, notably the crucial Crimean Bridge.
Following the start of Moscow’s military intervention in Ukraine, the West slapped fresh, comprehensive sanctions on Russia. The limits caused gas prices to soar, which exacerbated the EU’s developing energy problem. Additionally, the bloc had just signaled its intention to wean itself off of Russian energy.
