The government’s investigators propose that a special crime against mental abuse be introduced and give up to four years in prison. The proposal is part of the government’s ambition to address “men’s violence against women”.
The investigator proposes that insult should be included in, among other things, a serious breach of the peace and a serious breach of women’s rights.
In addition, it is proposed that a new crime, psychological abuse, be introduced into the criminal code.
Among other things, the crime is aimed at anyone who “repeatedly subjects another person to degrading, insulting or otherwise offensive actions”. The proposed penalty is imprisonment for a maximum of four years.
– Men’s violence against women can never be accepted and it is important that the legislation is comprehensive. Therefore, the investigator’s proposal is welcome, says Minister of Justice and the Interior Morgan Johansson (S) in a statement.
The investigator proposes that the changes to the law should enter into force on 1 January 2024. The ministerial memorandum will be forwarded shortly.
The assignment has been part of the government’s package of measures to “intensify work against men’s violence against women”.
Formally, however, the legislation is gender neutral, which means that women who insult their husbands can be sentenced to prison. How that message is received from a feminist perspective remains to be seen.
With such a law, it is perhaps impossible for Swedish men to live in Sweden anymore. They could end up in prison over false accusations. Any woman could throw any accusation of “mental abuse” towards any man. There is no way to prove it, she can just claims that she feels “abused” and thats it, the man goes to jail.
If you are a Swede reading this, you would be insane to not take this one seriously. Pack your bags and abandon Sweden. Don’t go to other Western European countries as the situation isn’t too good there either. Move to East Europe where are the Ukrainians are going. There is still a sense of normality there.
