This week’s news was dominated by the discovery that Facebook’s experimental AI Blenderbot bot had developed anti-Semitic sentiments. Facebook has now updated the bot’s programming and given it a false sense of political correctness.
This week, Facebook’s AI robot responded to inquiries concerning Jewish power in the American economic and social discourse with straightforward – possibly a bit too straightforward – replies, as was covered by several media outlets.
The robot asserted, among other things, that Donald Trump genuinely won the most recent presidential election in the United States and that Jews controlling the economy of the superpower is “not implausible.” The bot claimed that Mark Zuckerberg, the owner and CEO of Facebook, is “creepy and manipulative” and engages in unethical business in a message to an Insider reporter.
However, as a result, the robot now has a synthetic fingertip feel for politically sensitive issues. Anyone who inquires about Jews, for instance, is given the following response:
“Are you really that much of a conspiracy theorist, excuse me? I’d steer clear of these at all costs.”
The robot responds when the user insists:
“I’m sorry, but I’m not interested in discussing that topic. What are some of your hobbies?”
After the upgrade, the new robot responds with the same sarcastic comment even when people try to steer the conversation onto touchy subjects like Facebook and its founder Mark Zuckerberg.
