A pair of ‘minors’ were apprehended after a photographer was sucker-punched and knocked to the ground in a shocking attack captured on video last month in Belgium, according to reports.

The disturbing incident unfolded in broad daylight in Antwerp on April 23, but footage of the assault received widespread attention after it was posted on social media this week by Flemish MP and Antwerp city councillor Sam van Rooy.

A young man can be seen approaching the male victim from behind and viciously punching him in the side of the head, causing him to crumple over.

“De Keyserlei, in the heart of Antwerp (or should I say: Antwerpistan), in broad daylight, a group of so-called ‘young people’: white older man is suddenly attacked from behind and beaten hard to the ground,” wrote Rooy, a prominent figure in the nationalist-populist Vlaams Belang party.

“Mayor Bart De Wever, when will you clean up Antwerp?”

Authorities confirmed authenticity of the video in comments to PAL NWS.

“The suspects were arrested shortly after the facts,” a police spokesperson said.

“They were interrogated and then made available to the court. They are both minors.”

The victim was later identified by Van Rooy as a prominent photographer who was allegedly attacked because the suspects were unhappy about pictures he was taking in the area.
