So far, Russia has abstained from bombing Kiev directly and only bombed targets around Kiev and other cities East of Ukraine. As a result of negotiations, Russia withdrew its army from Kiev region. Kiev was surrounded but it wasn’t really attacked. There were only small skirmishes around it but nothing major inside.
Ukraine recently began a counteroffensive and even struck Russian cities and villages a few times. Few days ago, Russia warned Kiev leadership that if they do not stop attacking Russian territory, they would hit Kiev and the deal to leave Kiev alone would fall. As Ukraine attacks on Russian territory intensified recently, Russia struck Kiev last night for the first time.
A small number of powerful explosions in the Ukrainian capital Kiev were heard during the night. Russia says it is responding to “sabotage” inside Russia, but Ukraine claims that the Russians are angry that their flagship Moskva was sunk in the Black Sea, Reuters reported.
At least three explosions are said to have taken place in Kiev, writes Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenko on Twitter.
3 explosions in #Kyiv right now. One after the other. The air raid warning has been on for an hour. Most likely #putin gone livid because of the #Moskva sinking. Oh well, we’ll just keep standing to #Russia’s annoyance

Russia claims to attack Kiev “in response to Ukrainian sabotage on Russian soil”, according to the state news agency Interfax.
According to Russia, Ukraine has carried out several attacks in the Bryansk and Belgorod regions of Russia, but Kiev itself denies that any attacks on Russian soil have been carried out.
There are no reports of deaths in the capital. Russian attacks in the eastern parts of the country have, however, killed five people, Ukrainian authorities tell AFP.
The naval target robot factory was the target of the bombing of Kiev
A factory that manufactures the naval target robot Neptune was destroyed during the night towards Friday by Russian long-range robots, reports the AFP reporter on the spot.
Russia has confirmed that it is behind the bombing of the factory, which was a robot factory located just outside Kiev.
The factory was hit by five bombs after two Ukrainian naval target robots sank the Russian flagship Moskva in the Black Sea.
– An employee was in the office and was thrown over by the bang, the owner of a nearby workshop told AFP.
It is the owner Ukroboronprom who states that the Neptune robots are manufactured in the factory, which is the same robot that Ukraine claims to have used when they sank the Russian flagship Moskva. More specifically, two R-360 Neptune naval cruise missiles were used, according to Ukraine.
