This Monday, April 11, 2022, the parents of students at the Jules-Verne elementary school in Villenave d’Ornon (Gironde) had the right to a big fright at the end of the classes.
Around 4:30 p.m., a passerby was injured in the throat by a man with a knife after trying to intervene in an altercation between the armed individual and a woman.
The individual was not targeting the school
We know that the individual was not initially targeting the school. He also said he was once arrested. This 21-year-old man who lives in the department has psychiatric disorders and spent several stays in a supervised unit, until March 25. When he leaves, he takes it into his head to recover his former companion, who lives opposite the Jules-Vernes school. This Monday afternoon, a verbal altercation first broke out between the man and the woman, at her home. Then they both head for the street. The man is very verbally aggressive, prompting a passerby to intervene to protect the woman. It is then that the individual takes out his knife and thus seriously injures the passer-by.
He attacked the police
Then, the maniac would have tried to break into the school, reports Sud Ouest . In the end, the police officers of the anti-crime brigade, who arrived very quickly on the spot, found him in a parking lot near the school group.
Still armed with his knife, the individual rushed towards the police before being neutralized with a taser and arrested.
Known for psychiatric disorders
According to sources, he is known for psychiatric disorders. He was taken into custody for attempted homicide. The man injured in the throat, he did not have a vital prognosis when he was admitted to the Pellegrin hospital of the Bordeaux University Hospital.
If he has known psychiatric problems we would like to know why he is free on the streets though and not locked up?
