Romania is behaving like a baby dropped in the head at birth to protect Ukraine from Russia, welcoming thousands of NATO troops on its territory. What Romania doesn’t understand is that these troops are not there to protect Romania from anything as Russia does not even have any issues with Romania whatsoever, but in fact this country is being used by Western powers as a battleground in case war erupts between NATO and Russia….
Problem is, in case war erupts between NATO and Russia, Romania would have nothing to win out of this but in fact risks being wiped off the map completely by Russian nukes as being the first line of defense, NATO’s borderland so to speak. This isn’t the only country playing these dangerous games but in fact is part of a larger group of NATO cannon fodder countries such as Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
All of these 5 countries are perfectly justified to hate Russia as Russia has basically been an evil terrorist state with them throughout their entire history. Russia stole half of Moldova from Romania, forcefully Russified Moldova by changing their Latin alphabet to a Cyrillic alphabet, killed and deported hundreds of thousands of Romanian Moldovans to Siberia and sent Russians in their houses to replace their population and colonize them.
Heck, Russia even stole 120 tons of gold from Romania in 1918 and it has no plans to ever give them back their gold… They split Moldova in 2, one half joined Romania union and the other half was stolen by Russia in 1812. Years later, Romania managed to recover the other half of Moldova (Bessarabia the part with Chisinau) but Russia remained obsessed with the idea that half of Moldova is theirs, but the fact of the matter is, it is not theirs and it has never been theirs. In fact Moldova was always one single principality. Russia’s pretext for stealing their gold was also evil in itself. They said they stole the gold because Romania recovered Moldova … then they took back Bessarabia from Romania after World War 2 but then the gold was still not returned because Romania didn’t concede Bessarabia voluntarily to Russia…. Romania either you give your gold or half of Moldova, either way you have to give something to Russia…. Russia ended up taking both! The nerve these people have yet they still don’t understand why everybody hates them.
To make it worse, after the end of World War 2, while the Americans came up with the Marshall Plan to help all the war worn countries which fell under its wing, including even the belligerent Germany, Russia came up with a different plan, they forced Romania to pay them war reparations and stole all their natural resources. America even wanted to help Romania and Poland with the Marshall Plan, but the USSR opposed saying that these 2 countries are now their property and they wanted to drain them instead of helping them. Here’s from Wikipedia: Although offered participation, the Soviet Union refused Plan benefits, and also blocked benefits to Eastern Bloc countries, such as Romania and Poland.
In many ways the story of Romania is similar to that of Great Britain and their 3 principalities: England, Scotland and Ireland, all being basically the same people, speaking the same language. Trying to say half of Moldova belongs to Russia is as if trying to say half of England belongs to France or something. The difference between the 2 nations is that one was isolated in the Western side of Europe where there was barely any wars and the other nation was trapped between 3 immense empires: Russian Empire, Ottoman Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
So basically as you see, Russia acted like a terrorist state with all of its neighbors…. they pulled the same kind of stunts in Georgia, trying to steal what they call “South Ossetia“, “Abhazia“, they stole a part from China which is today’s “Mongolia” and many other territories and now Russia is in such a great shock as to why almost the entire planet hates them and why everybody around them, wants to join NATO… the fact of the matter is, all of these countries join NATO to escape the Russian terror and gain protection from “the other big boys”, in this case, the United States.
So to Russian shills out there trying to defend Russia? There is no defending, you people don’t know any history. This country has done as much evil in the world as the Ottoman Empire (Turkey), regardless of the regimes they lived under. It was under the Czar while Russia was an Empire that they stole half of Moldova and other territories, it was under communism that they killed millions and also stole territories, stole Kuril Islands from Japan among many others, it was under democracy that they stole the 2 regions from Georgia, supported with troops the Transnistrian civil war in Moldova and took Crimea from Ukraine despite serious international condemnation.
It is true, there was a referendum in Crimea so at least Crimea was stolen democratically and not by force… and that does make a difference but Russia could have refused their ascension to their motherland but instead of refusing, they sent troops to steal even more from Ukraine….. Donbass…… so as you can see Russia isn’t exactly holy. Defending Russia is basically defending the undefendable. It is in their nature to be imperialists and steal territories from others because they’ve done this throughout their entire history regardless of the political system they had. They’ve done it as a monarchy, as communists and as a democracy, totally different ideologies and political systems, same behavior.
This is the literal definition of a terrorist state……… sorry but no sorry! Russia is a terrorist state with almost all of its neighbors. How did you think it got so big territorially? HOWEVER, with all that said, Romania (and the other Eastern European states involved in this) should remain neutral and try to stay out of this Russian-Ukrainian conflict as they have nothing to gain, plus many of its territories are now in Ukraine. Why should Romania jump in to defend Ukraine? Ukraine should first give back North and South of Moldova and the islands too.
Why is this country jumping to protect Ukraine while parts of it are in Ukraine? It wasn’t Ukraine who stole them, in fact it was Russia who stole these territories, including territories from Poland and Czechia and gave them to their Slavic brothers in Ukraine because they considered it as basically giving the territories to themselves as back then there was no nation of Ukraine. There was the region of Ukraine, but not the nation… Ukraine as a nation is a recent invention. If there is a time for Romania to ever recover its lost territories, the time is now as now Ukraine belongs to nobody.
Its not a NATO country so it cannot demand anything from NATO and it hates Russia and Russia hates Ukraine and Russia wouldn’t jump in to defend Ukraine from Romania demanding things from Ukraine…. but now if Ukraine wants to join NATO, shouldn’t at least these other nations who lost territories to them condition them to return these lands? Or at the very least unite with Republic of Moldova?
Transnistria is the only reason why Moldova isn’t uniting with Romania. The thing is Transnistria was never Moldova’s territory but Moldova didn’t take Transnistria from Ukraine, it was given to Moldova in exchange for the northern and southern territories Ukraine stole, even though its a much smaller territory compared what they stole. Transnistria should normally be part of Ukraine but so do the orange parts you see above should normally be part of Romania/Moldova. If they can make the exchange good, if not, then Transnistria must be integrated by force into Moldova/Romania just like Moldova’s territories were integrated by force into Ukraine. Besides Transnistria is landlocked. There is no way for Russia to send reinforcements there.
Additionally, send reinforcements where? In NATO territory? If Moldova with Transnistria reunites with Romania, then Moldova (and Transnistria) become part of NATO. Any Russian incursion into Transnistria would be considered as an invasion of NATO. So there is simply nothing Russia can do to prevent Transnistria from being absorbed into Romania.
And this is the story of crazy Romania, involving itself on Ukraine’s behalf, having nothing to gain out of it while Ukraine still holds hostage its territories. One has the land, the other has the 120 tons of gold…. in fact, because of this conflict, Romania could even demand its gold back from Russia. They could simply condition them in such a simple way “If you give us back our gold, we will declare ourselves neutral and not allow additional American troops stationed here.”
While Russia historically speaking is not a friend of Romania and many other countries of the world we may add, Ukraine is definitely not a friend either. None of them are worth getting involved for.
So our advice to Romania and the other Eastern European countries regarding this conflict and NATO, remain neutral and focus on growing your economy and reuniting with the other half of Moldova now while you still can!
It is mind boggling that Romania is getting involved into this conflict while having no demands from either Ukraine nor Russia while both of them owe things that they stole years ago from Romania.
