German police have arrested a 15-year-old girl suspected of fatally stabbing an elderly woman during a robbery at a train station in Ravensburg on Tuesday.
The teen suspect was already well-known to police, having been arrested multiple times previously and serving a recent prison term for robbery.
The 62-year-old victim was on her way home from work when she was attacked at the Ravensburg train station.
The suspect stabbed her multiple times in the throat with a knife and ran off with her handbag, authorities said after reviewing video surveillance.
“Despite the immediate resuscitation measures by police officers, the victim died of severe injuries in the neck area within a short time,” Ravensburg police said in a statement.
“The suspect has already appeared to the police several times and only recently served a prison sentence, for offenses including for robbery.”
Investigators are still seeking more evidence, appealing to the public for any information related to the crime.
