Pope Francis is getting ever more political, with recent statements on same-sex relationships, social justice and BLM marches. Christians are entitled to be concerned about this constant pandering to the radical left.
A new book by Pope Francis praises the BLM protests that took place over the death of George Floyd, and at the same time chastises protests against coronavirus lockdown measures.
In his new book, “Let Us Dream,” Francis essentially sanctifies the riots over Floyd, saying, “Abuse is a gross violation of human dignity that we cannot allow and which we must continue to struggle against.”
Covid lockdowns, however, are evidently not a “violation of human dignity,” according to The Holy See, who proceeds to slam protests against government-imposed coronavirus restrictions, arguing misled demonstrators carry on “as if measures that governments must impose for the good of their people constitute some kind of political assault on autonomy or personal freedom!”
What’s annoying about this whole “woke” phenomenon is that nobody ever discussed about even the term they use itself: WOKE. What do they mean “woke”? For thousands of years we’ve all been blind sleeping idiots, supporting traditional families and now we’re WOKE? Its WOKE to support gay marriage??? Its WOKE to support the invasion of Christian Europe with millions of pagans? Its WOKE to support divorce and all this other degeneracy? Degeneracy = WOKE? And if you’re against it, you’re a sleeping idiot? Unbelievable…
I’m not a Catholic, but like every other Christian on Earth, I tend to keep an eye on what the Pope is doing. With so much of the world Catholic, people naturally pay attention to such a renowned spiritual leader. And ever since Pope Francis became the head of the Holy See, there has been a huge amount of frustration from Christians. After all, whether you’re Catholic or not, you have to acknowledge that many see him as the most well-known Christian on Earth.
Pope Francis is politically the most far-left leaning pope of my lifetime. He has shown sympathy for open borders, has been naively critical of capitalism, and seems to comment on political issues quite a bit more than past popes have. Recently, he has outwardly shared support for same-sex civil unions, and had a meeting about social justice with NBA players. On top of that, he has also praised Black Lives Matter marches and decried protests against Covid restrictions.
A simple question arises from all of this. Is the Pope trying to make Catholicism go woke? I wouldn’t assume to know more about theology or biblical study than Pope Francis. But what I will say is that this pandering behavior comes across like a mix of naivete and stupidity. At this point I’m waiting for the Pope to make the same speech that George Carlin’s character did at the beginning of the film ‘Dogma’.
Whether I agree with the policy prescriptions of Pope Francis is ultimately moot, because my criticism of him is purely spiritual. I think his desire for unity among his fellow man occasionally blinds him to the truth of scripture.
One of my favorite quotes from my favorite theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer is “politics are not the task of a Christian.” I understand this might seem hypocritical coming from the mouth of a man who tried to blow up Adolf Hitler, but I do think Bonhoeffer was on to something. I believe it comes from his understanding of “render unto Caesar” and Christ’s statements on and disinterest in government. This relates to the Pope, because I don’t think it’s his business to tell the governments of the world how to do their job. His job is to spread the gospel.
The reason I question whether he is trying to ‘go woke’ is because all of his recent actions come across like pandering to the radical left. And many on the radical left despise Christians and pay lip service to governments that have persecuted we believers in the past. There are elements of the scripture that discuss things such as same-sex relationships, sexual promiscuity and gender roles that fly in the face of progressivism. In a sense, the teachings of Jesus Christ are the anti-woke.
As a believer in Jesus, I find myself shuddering anytime I hear Pope Francis make a public statement. Although I applaud his stance that abortion is unacceptable, his payment of lip service to radicals who have no respect
for believers is foolish. You can’t evangelize to people who close their ears to what we believe the truth is, and pandering to them will not open those ears. Rather, all the woke mob will do is lick their lips and prepare to chow down like the lions that the Romans fed us to hundreds of years ago.

If you want peace, establish justice Pope Francis is not only the Vicar of Christ on earth, he speaks about current issues, BLM, climate change, immigrants etc., from moral principles based on Scripture and the teachings of the Church on social justice. For some Catholics, they would agree with Bonheffers’ statement that the church should not get into politics when in fact what Pope Francis does is to teach the moral aspects of these issues which the Popes have done in the past; e.g., Pope Leo XIII advocated for a just living wage and the right of workingmen and women to form unions. Pope Pius XI condemned Nazism, Pope St. John XIII condemned communism, Pope Francis condemned the excesses of capitalism since it affects the poor. Both Popes and Bishops have condemned racism. BLM’s protests consisted of blacks, whites, Muslims, Jews, Protestants, old, young, people of different ethnic origins and I believe this was a moral issue protesting the death of George Floyd by a police officer – equal application of the law by police and justice – this is a moral issue and I think think fear is the basic motivation to denounce this movement. God created all men equal with a certain dignity and this gives each person certain rights and freedoms. Yes, the Church needs to get involved in issues which are in reality moral ones.
The blacks are not Human, they are a sub-species of the African primates.Look up an incident that happened in Knoxville Tennessee around 2008, when four black savages raped a young White male and female and subjected them to hours of torture before killing them and burning the young male victim. A monument was set up in Knoxville in memory of the two victims.
Not human? Since when? Your opinion smacks of racism and hate which only leads to violence as happened to George Floyd. Officer Chauvin had no business kneeling on his neck as he was restrained. Police chiefs and officers condemned his way of doing this because it was wrong and did not follow police procedures when arresting someone. You ignore the fact that God created men/women equal and He made no distinction based on the color of one’s skin and as a result each person has certain rights given by God. Our Declaration affirms this in so far as it states that all men are created equal even Afro Americans. You, also, disrespect the many Afro Americans who fought for our freedoms and way of life and some gave the last full measure of devotion. Shame on you!
George Floyd was a career criminal and no police officer can take any chances with the primitive black savages where 3% of blacks in America are responsible for over 50% of all crime in the USA. A black woman recently gave birth after 21 weeks which is closer to the apes than to humans, and blacks also have a vestige of the “simian shelf”, a bony region immediately behind the incisors. The simian shelf is a distinguishing characteristic of apes and it is absent in whites. The blacks emit a peculiar offensive body odor similar to apes, and their facial features closely resemble apes, and the eye often has a yellowish scierotic coat over it like that of a gorilla. To imply that blacks are equal to whites is utter tosh. The blacks are without doubt a sub-species of the African primates. No African Americans fought for my freedom, they fought to save communist Russia and impose communism on Europe and South East Asia.
The problem with BLM is they have prioritized their blackness to define them over their commitment to God. The are black first, then Christians, Muslims, etc. next. By chance they are black, by God they are humans. Sadly, this will not change in my lifetime, as most blacks are slow to understand they are aligning themselves with immediate gratifiers instead of earning a place in society.
