oslo kurds vs turks

Central Oslo was hit by a brawl between Turks and Kurds, because of the situation in Turkey and Syria.

It started last Saturday with two demonstrations outside the Turkish embassy in Oslo. The two demonstrations consisted of people who were for and against Turkey’s invasion of northern Syria respectively.

A rather peaceful pro-Turkey demonstration started at 1 pm, but two hours later a Kurdish counter-demonstration started, which was a protest against Turkey’s offensive in northern Syria. A kurdish flag was spotted.

When the two demonstrations met, a clash started. A shop for body care products at Karl Johan, a big shopping street in Central Oslo, was demolished, but no one is reported to have been hurt. There were also attacks on cars and buses, and iron bras were used. The Norwegian police were forced to respond with tear gas.

At 6 PM the police said that they had “control over the situation”.

So far two persons have been injured.
