A court in Duisburg, Germany has charged three migrant youths with the gang rape of an 18-year-old girl in July.
Police say that the three youths who’ve been charged are Bulgarian nationals living in Germany.
According to a report by Deutsche Welle, there were two other boys, aged 12, who were also involved in the brutal gang rape but were too young to be charged.
On Thursday, court prosecutors in Duisberg announced that the rape charges would be brought against the three 14-year-old foreign youths. The trio is accused of raping an 18-year-old girl in a public park in Mülheim an der Ruhr in North Rhine-Westphalia in July.
Following the crime, the victim of the brutal gang rape was treated for various injuries at a nearby hospital.
The two other youths who took part in the rape were deemed by prosecutors to be too young to face criminal charges since they were 12-years-old when the crime took place.
As of today, one of the 14-year-old suspects sits in jail, in pre-trial detention, and faces an additional charge of rape. He is believed to have raped the same 18-year-old before the gang rape in July took place.
News of the crime comes about a month after the trial of a failed 27-year-old West African asylum seeker who was charged with raping a nine-year-old girl began in Germany.
One month before that, a 22-year-old Iraqi migrant who raped and murdered a 14-year-old Jewish girl was convicted and sentenced to life in prison by a court in Wiesbaden.
