A paedophile who raped a child in a sickening three-year period of abuse has been jailed.
Muhammed Irfan, 35, was found guilty of raping a child under the age of 13 after a five-day trial at Birmingham Crown Court.
The sex beast, from Gough Road, Sparkhill, made threats against his traumatised victim’s family if she told anyone of her abuse ordeal.
But the brave young schoolgirl, whose childhood was ruined by the abuse, found the courage to speak out – sparking a police investigation.
At court the jury heard how the abuse had affected the schoolgirl. In a statement she said: “Throughout my childhood and in school, I was what I would describe as a naughty child.
“I would fight boys, be disruptive, answer teachers back and just not go to lessons. It is only now I am old enough to realise why I was like this.”
Irfan was jailed for 19 years with an extended licence period of one year.
He will not be eligible to apply for parole for at least ten years and will remain on the Sex Offender Register for life.
