Balazs Hidveghi from Hungary’s Fidesz party said that migrants who have entered Europe illegally should be sent back to their home countries, Hungary Today reports.
During a session of the European Parliament’s civil liberties committee, Balazs Hidveghi told fellow European MEPs, “If we fail to do this, we’ll be further enhancing the illegality [of their stay].”
He continued, arguing that the EU needed to establish a more transparent position on migration than it has before.
“Protecting the European Union’s external borders is of key importance when it comes to strengthening stability and ending the humanitarian crisis,” Hidveghi added.
Lastly, the Hungarian MEP stated that the European Union needs to make it a priority to increase the budgets of its pan-European police agency Europol, the judicial agency Eurojust, as well as the European Police Academy (CEPOL).
