Trump promises to Cure Cancer & AIDS, go to Mars and make WAR with Iran in 2nd term

President Donald Trump has promised voters he’ll cure not only cancer but AIDS – and go to Mars – if he wins another term, one-upping Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden’s cancer-cure promise during his re-election campaign launch.

“We will come up with the cures to many, many diseases, including cancer and others, and we’re getting closer all the time,” Trump boasted, coming to the end of a lengthy speech during the launch rally for his 2020 campaign on Tuesday night. “We will eradicate AIDS in America once and for all, and we’re very close. We will lay the foundation for landing American astronauts on the surface of Mars.”

The cancer reference was presumably inspired by rival Biden’s promise to cure cancer, which largely met with bemusement after the former vice president delivered it to supporters in Iowa last Tuesday. Donald Trump Jr., who spoke before his father at the president’s rally, also mentioned the comment, asking, “Why the hell didn’t you do that over the last 50 years, Joe?”

Like Biden, Trump was roasted for promising to deliver the cancer cure – there are more than 100 types of cancer, some of which are already curable, while some treatments, like immunotherapy, work for some people and not others. Less nuanced tweeters suggested that Trump was, in fact, the cancer in question.

The Mars comment got its own share of criticism, with some pointing out that with all the problems going on at home, the US could ill afford to be gallivanting through space. Others suggested Trump should go to Mars – and stay there.

Trump’s defenders pointed out that even if the president delivered on all three points, Democrats would still find a reason to criticize him.

Trump spoke for nearly 90 minutes, hitting familiar themes including immigration (the wall has been redesigned to be “stronger, better and cheaper”), healthcare (Democrats hate our beloved private health insurance), the bullets the country has dodged under his leadership (the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Paris climate agreement, and the dreaded Iran nuclear deal), and socialism (still bad).

“I can promise you I will never let you down,” he said during the speech, which ended with a promise to make America not only great but wealthy, strong, and safe again.

Trump says he would ‘certainly’ go to war with Iran ‘over nuclear weapons’, but not right now

So among all of his above false promises and obvious lies, Trump is now also vowing to make war with Iran as if this is something the American people look forward to…

US President Donald Trump said he would consider military action against Iran to prevent it from getting nuclear weapons. The row between Tehran and Washington escalated after the US accused Iran of attacking two oil tankers.

“I would certainly go over nuclear weapons,” Trump told Time Magazine on Tuesday when asked what would make him consider declaring war on Iran. “And I would keep the other a question mark.”

The report did not specify whether the president elaborated on the scenario of launching a full-fledged armed conflict with the Islamic Republic over its nuclear program. When a reporter asked Trump if he was considering military action against Iran right now, he replied: “I wouldn’t say that. I can’t say that at all.”

His remarks came a day after the Pentagon said that it will deploy 1,000 extra troops to the Middle East “for defensive purposes.” The US blamed Iran for the attack on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman. Washington released a grainy video, allegedly showing Iranian sailors removing a limpet mine from one of ship’s hull, but did not provide any other evidence to support its case. Tehran rebuffed the allegations, saying that it had nothing to do with the incidents.

Also on Tuesday, Iran announced that, in just 10 days, it would increase its uranium stockpiles beyond the limits allowed under the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA. The US pulled out of the agreement last year and re-imposed sanctions on Iran. Officials in Tehran say they will return to full compliance with the deal if the EU, another signatory of the agreement, reaffirms its commitments.
