So last year we wrote about Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge being total disasters and how Samsung sold and scammed millions of customers despite developing the infamous unfixable error “mmc_read failed”.

So Italy now finally decided to punish evil Samsung for this! They fined them €5 million and forced them pay up $340 to customers who fixed their phones themselves by replacing the dead motherboards or repair for free the still unfixed defective phones which may lay around in customers drawers for years.

Here’s the message we received from Migliaccio & Rathod LLP whom we wrote about in our previous article:

Thank you contacting our law firm about your defective Note 4 smartphone. Thousands of Note 4 owners have contacted our firm about the “emmc_read fail” defect, and we filed a nationwide class action against Samsung to seek compensation for the defect. Unfortunately, the case was dismissed because the judge ruled that all Note 4 owners had given up their rights to sue Samsung by consenting to a click-through arbitration agreement in the setup screen on the phone. We are undeterred and are continuing to make efforts to secure compensation for Note 4 owners who have had their phones prematurely fail, including through arbitration and potential mediation of claims. After being fined €5 million in Italy for the Note 4 defect, Samsung created a compensation program in Italy that provides for a free repair, or an approximately $340 credit to Note 4 owners. We believe that all Note 4 owners should also receive just compensation. For our firm to represent you in this effort, please review and sign the retainer form here: https://rightsignature.com/forms/RetainerLetter-479112/token/65d9d7ab2cd. We are taking this case on a contingency basis, which means that we will advance all expenses, and will only be paid out of a successful resolution of the claim. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

In this new fine Samsung was also forces to stop the practice of forced software updates as nowadays Samsung basically forces the users to update the software, either downloading it and installing it automatically or annoying the user over and over again to make the update.

Samsung did not disclose what was causing this fatal error which permanently destroyed customers phones but various independent investigators and technicians report that the problem may be either hardware related with the flash chip failing prematurely or software because the Marshmallow update wasn’t even destined to be used for Note 4 but it was developed for Note 7 and basically forced upon Note 4 phones without any kind of responsibility and proper testing.

Good job Italy for teaching Samsung a good lesson, now next step is Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ for suffering the same fate as Note 4 and Note Edge. We hope other countries will follow suit and fine Samsung just like Italy did. Samsung sucks billions of euros yearly from our European economies and pumps them into the South Korean economy but when they make a mistake they shouldn’t pay up????????? If no, then please explain WHY! Why should we protect a Korean company at the expense of European buyers? Are we really that insane as a people? Have whites gone totally mad? Is there no brain cell still left alive in there somewhere?

So anyway in the meantime if you are an Italian and you had trouble with your Note 4 or Note Edge, remember to go and pickup your $340 check from Samsung!

Please wait...
