miriam ocallaghan on dumb blondes myth

As we wrote yesterday, “dumb blondes” is just a myth, furthermore it turns out its the brunettes who are the dumbest of all white people according to a study on intelligence among the various different kinds of white European people.

This myth has been very harmful to the self-esteem of blondes all around the world affecting both blondes and especially redheads who have also suffered from the “gingers have no soul myth”.

In fact it has been so harmful to redheads that they have been brought to near-extinction levels and should be declared an endangered species by the UN.

So now blondes in Ireland are finally revolting against this idiotic racist myth.

Check this out as reported by the Irish Mirror:

Famous fair-haired Irish women have come out in force slamming the “ dumb blonde” myth as a new stage show tackles the stereotype.

Legally Blonde the Musical is based on the movie starring Reese Witherpoon and hits the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin next month.

Character Elle Woods bids to win back her ex-boyfriend by getting a law degree and in doing so proves that despite her hair colour she has more brains and ambition than her Harvard counterparts.

With more than four decades of broadcasting under her belt in both the UK and Ireland, blonde broadcaster Miriam O’Callaghan has slammed the stereotype.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror the 58-year-old mum of eight said: ‘I think the whole idea that our intelligence might be in any way determined by or connected to our hair colour is truly daft.

“What colour our hair happens to be is utterly irrelevant as far as I am concerned as to how bright we are or indeed how successful we become.

“It’s just another silly prejudice women get judged by. I ignore all of that. Onwards and upwards. Life is for living and for loving, whatever your hair colour.”

Former Miss World Rosanna Davison has been open in the past about being underestimated because of her beauty.

Yet the 33-year-old graduate is a successful author and nutritionist.

She told the Irish Mirror: “The dumb blonde stereotype is just an old-fashioned idea that needs to be abolished in my opinion.

“If somebody underestimates you because of your hair colour, it’s based on their limited world view and not yours.”

TV3 star Karen Koster admitted despite not being a real blonde she finds the whole notion ridiculous.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror she said: “I can’t comment for blondes as I’m not a real one.

“I think that dumb blonde idea is outdated. It’s never even entered into my head that someone would have a certain perception of me because of my hair colour.”

And TV3 News anchor Claire Brock insisted the only person who slags her hair hue is herself.

She told the Irish Mirror: “I find it hilarious it might still be considered an issue. It’s one of the oldest and most outdated stereotypes.

“The only person to joke about it is myself when I say I’ve had a ‘blonde moment’. Tongue-in-cheek of course.”
