EU-backed copyright rules could force YouTube to ‘bank account’ holders from uploading their videos, according to Susan Wojcicki of YouTube.
In a message to account holders Susan warned that Article 13 “threatens to shut down the ability of millions of people – from creators like you to everyday users – to upload content to platforms like YouTube”.
Ms. Wojcicki warned that “It threatens to block users in the EU from viewing content that is already live on the channels of creators everywhere…”
Gerard Batten, UKIP Leader had this to say regarding the ulterior motives of the duplicitous Article 13:
“Article 13 has nothing to do with protecting the rights of artists and everything to do with shutting down independent political content on the internet.
“Internet memes play a major role in stoking up interest in political issues and disseminating ideas. Most memes use copyrighted materials under the existing ‘fair usage’ rules from popular culture – after all, using popular culture makes politics more interesting.
“The establishment sneer at anything popular, whether it’s popular culture or populist politics. The EU isn’t popular at all, which is why they want to stop YouTubers making videos criticising their doomed project.
“UKIP stands against this ridiculous law and we are working with prominent YouTubers Sargon of Akkad and Count Dankula to block it.”
