The state of Israel locks up children of African invaders as young as one year-old—at the same time that the Israel-supporting US Jewish lobby has publicly condemned the Trump Administration for its “unjust” immigration policy.
A letter issued June 15 by 27 national Jewish organizations and institutions addressed to US Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, said that they were writing to “express our strong opposition to the recently expanded ‘zero-tolerance’ policy that includes separating children from their migrant parents when they cross the border. This policy undermines the values of our nation and jeopardizes the safety and well-being of thousands of people.
“As Jews, we understand the plight of being an immigrant fleeing violence and oppression. We believe that the United States is a nation of immigrants and how we treat the stranger reflects on the moral values and ideals of this nation.”
The letter goes on to berate the Trump administration for locking up illegal immigrants pretending to be refugees, saying that “those seeking asylum or other legal protection face numerous obstacles to making a claim, especially from detention.”
The letter was signed by the American Conference of Cantors, American Jewish Committee (AJC), American Jewish World Service, Anti-Defamation League, B’nai B’rith International, Bend the Arc Jewish Action, Central Conference of American Rabbis, Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, Inc., HIAS, Jewish Council for Public Affairs, Jewish Labor Committee, Jewish Women International, Men of Reform Judaism, National Association of Jewish Legislators, National Council of Jewish Women, Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies, NFTY – The Reform Jewish Youth Movement, Orthodox Union, Rabbinical Assembly, Reconstructing Judaism, Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association, The Workmen’s Circle, T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights, Union for Reform Judaism, United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, Uri L’Tzedek, The Orthodox Social Justice Movement, and the Women of Reform Judaism.
All these organizations are fanatic supporters of Israel.
Yet the Jewish state itself has a “zero-tolerance policy” and even locks up African children as young as six years old in prisons along with hardened criminals while their parents await deportation.
The latest example of the Jewish policy in dealing with illegal immigrants in their own country was revealed in a front page report in the Israeli language Maariv newspaper, which prompted the Israeli News Channel 10 to make a news item about the practice.
According to the Maariv report, the Givon Prison near Ramle in Israel “houses half a dozen children under the age of 7 without appropriate facilities or support staff” whose mothers are awaiting deportation.
The daily published photos and videos of six children — aged 1 to 7 — who it said are incarcerated with their mothers at the Givon Prison near Ramle.
Marcy, a Nigerian mother who invaded Israel in 2010, said that she and her four children had been at Givon for over three weeks.
“Nearly a month has passed, but the children aren’t getting used to it,” she told Maariv in tears. “The opposite, it’s becoming harder for them. Every time they play too energetically and go wild, the prison guards tell them: ‘If you make noise, we’ll lock you in your room.’
“It’s not nice, they aren’t free, they know this isn’t home. They ask me all the time when we’re going home and I tell them ‘very soon,’” Marcy said.
“I don’t tell them a specific time because I don’t really know,” she added. Marcy’s husband was deported to Nigeria last year, splitting up the family, the exact thing for which the Israel-supporting US Jewish lobby has condemned the Trump Administration.
The Israeli Population and Immigration Authority declined to respond on the matter of children incarcerated at Givon, but said that Marcy had been battling deportation for many years.
“Every court has held that she must leave the country,” the Authority said in a statement. “The aforementioned woman has been [ignoring the law] for a long time and has not left. We are unable to reach a different decision from the court.”
