Thames Valley Police are searching for a would-be rapist who attacked a female dog walker in a park; he was forced to flee the scene after the woman’s dog became “aggressive” toward him.
A woman walking her dog in a park in Winnersh, in the English county of Berkshire, was attacked at 5:55pm on Thursday by a man who attempted to rape her.
The man grabbed her from behind and attempted to remove her clothes. However, the attack was stopped by the victim’s dog, who “became aggressive towards him and he then fled the scene,” Thames Valley Police reported.
“This was a very distressing and traumatic experience for the victim and she is being supported by specially trained officers at this time,” Detective Chief Inspector Matt Stone, of Berkshire Force CID, stated.
”I understand that people in the area will be very concerned about this incident, but I would like to reassure them that we have begun a full and thorough investigation.”
The offender is described as being in his thirties, about 5ft 7ins (1.70cm) tall, with tanned skin and dark hair and is clean shaven. He was wearing a black hooded top and black or navy jogging bottoms.
The police have asked for anybody who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to come forward with information. Anybody with information is urged to contact Thames Valley Police by calling 101 quoting reference ‘1201 (2/11)’, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
