357918 Argentina strike

Argentina is bracing for a major strike over high inflation and crime levels in the Latin American country.

Three of the country’s five major unions are expected to take part in Thursday’s labor action in protest against the government’s attempt to cap salary increases.

The 24-hour walkout is expected to severely disrupt the country’s public transportation.

The government is struggling to contain inflation, which independent analysts say is well over 30%.

The government of Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner is also facing criticism over increasing high crime rate.

Earlier this month, a wave of violent crime in the capital Buenos Aires prompted the city’s authorities to declare a state of emergency.

The measure came in response to a growing vigilante movement taking the justice into its own hands to combat crime in the city.

  1. Argentina has been a victim of its leaders for a long, long time. It would not take much to fix the inflation – just replace the existing regime with politicians who actually care what happens to their country more than they care about the size of their own Swiss bank accounts. See the documentary, “Argentina’s Economic Collapse” on http://www.youtube.com for an explanation of why the situation there never changes except to get worse. Argentina is a rich country but with a government that keeps it poor.
