The United States is to supply the Israeli regime with munitions worth $647 million to renew its stock after Tel Aviv’s massive bombings during the eight-day war on Gaza.
The US Department of Defense informed the Congress of a deal to sell munitions including 6,900 precision bomb kits to the Tel Aviv regime only a month after Israel’s aggression on Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip, the Israeli daily Haaretz said in a report on Tuesday.
The deal will also include the sale of 6,900 Joint Attack Munitions tail kits, which are capable of converting bombs into “smart munitions” guided by satellite and capable of hitting targets precisely.
The US will also sell 10,000 bombs, including 1,725 BLU-109 bunker-buster bombs, 3,450 GBU-39 bunker-buster bombs designed for equipped targets, 3,450 bombs that are up to one ton each and 1,725 bombs that each weighs 250 kilograms.
The Israeli paper said that the deal was aimed at renewing Tel Aviv’s munitions stock after its recent attacks on Gaza.
Washington vehemently supported Tel Aviv during the eight-day attack from November 14-21, with US President Barack Obama repeatedly saying that the US was “fully supportive of Israel’s right to defend itself.”
Even after a ceasefire between the Israeli regime and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, Obama said he would “use the opportunity” to boost his administration’s military aid to Israel.
This is while the Tel Aviv regime reportedly receives $3 billion from the White House in foreign assistance every year.
Over 160 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed and about 1,200 others were injured in the Israeli attacks on Gaza. In retaliation, Palestinian resistance fighters fired rockets and missiles into Israeli cities, killing at least five Israelis.
The violence ended after the Israeli regime and Hamas agreed to an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire.
