In Siberia, rescuers continue to search for three tourists, who did not come out of a cave in due time. The rescuers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry have started searching for the tourists in Pandora’s Box Cave, Vesti reports.
According to NTV, the owner of a tourist facility in the village of Malaya Syya told EMERCOM that three young men were supposed to return to the base in the morning, but the men were out of reach the whole day.
The rescuers, including cavers and world-class rescuer Paul Gridnev, 1st Class rescuers Alexey Shchekotov and Vladimir Chadaykin arrived at the scene in five hours.
According to specialists, the tourists, if they are still in the cave, could have problems with equipment, so they could not climb up to get out, Khakassia Inform said.
“Pandora’s Box” is one of the most popular and at the same time one of the most dangerous caves in the republic of Khakassia (Siberia). In February 2005, a group of cavers from Novosibirsk went missing in the cave. The cave is the second longest cave in Siberia (after Bolshaya Oreshnaya Cave). The length of its passages makes up about 11 kilometers. With cascades of caverns, slopes and shafts, the cave goes almost 200 meters deep under the ground.
