Images created by Jorge Jimenez show the latest advances in computer graphics.

A leading visual effects artist at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) says computer graphics will be indistinguishable from reality in 10 years time.

“It’s an interesting time because with modern computer graphics hardware, the way it’s going, it’s gonna be pretty hard to tell the difference between something that is interactive and rendered in real time, and something that was done for an animated TV show, or even a live-action thing,” said Kim Libreri.

“…today we’re matching the quality of an animated movie seven or eight years ago, and another ten years from now, it’s just going to be indistinguishable from reality.”

ILM, created by George Lucas for the Star Wars prequel trilogy, is now working on the game Star Wars 1313, trying to “capture every inch of their actors’ bodies and faces right down to subtle crinkles around the eyes to make every performance utterly convincing.”

According to CVG magazine, the Star Wars 1313 actors are also the “most realistic humans ever rendered in a video game.”

A number of images created by graphic expert Jorge Jimenez, are good examples of how computer games could look.

Jiminez works for Activision Blizzard computer game studio and his work will be officially unveiled at a US conference later this week, mail online reported.
