Saudi authorities are warning non-Muslim expatriates against eating, drinking or smoking in public during Ramadan, the monthlong sunrise-to-sunset fast or face expulsion.
The Interior Ministry of the oil-rich kingdom is calling on non-Muslims to “show consideration for feelings of Muslims” and “preserve the sacred Islamic rituals.”
Otherwise, a statement says, Saudi authorities will cancel violators’ work contracts and expel them. The warning came today, the first day of the Ramadan observance.
In addition to Saudi Arabia’s 19 million citizens, there are nearly 8 million Asian workers in the country, as well as hundreds of thousands of other foreign expatriates from around the globe, according to government figures.
Saudi Arabia, the ultraconservative Sunni kingdom, is the home of Islam’s holiest sites. It enforces a strict interpretation of the religion.

This is nothing new. I worked in Saudi for quite a few years and it was the same every year during Ramadan. The Saudis are Wahabis and love the Salafis. Their particular mode of Islam is nothing like the original during the days of the Prophet Mohammed. In those times people came to Islam willingly and in droves because of the examples of Islamic behavior and social justice.
Today, there is none of the above. Actually, if one is fasting during Ramadan, he or she should not be concerned as to what others who may not be Muslims are doing, be it eating, smoking or drinking. They should be concerned only with their inner Jihad in fighting their own desires. That is the real Islam.
In closing, not too many people choose Saudi as a vacation destination.
Why dont muslims respect non-muslims

I would like to think what saudi-arabi would be without oil,a shit hole with lots of sand and nobody would give a shit about what they had to say!! funny that its all about the oil and which palms to grease.
United Kingdom supports the Us government which is very bad because they like to make war and killed miions of people just for oil or just for the New world Order!!!Understand that we can blame your county for many things.Even if you can find muslims that are not tolerant,it does not mean that all are like that.And if many people do not choose Saudi Arabia for vacation, please not that the Saudi Kindom does not need too many because we, muslims, are millions each year to go there to perform al hajj which is the pilgrimage with a very great pleasure!!!!We do not need Saudi Arabia to be like Dubai and draw many people more….
