Oscar-nominated screenwriter Peter Morgan, will pen the biopic telling the life story of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner.
The movie about Hugh Hefner will be released by Warner Bros. The writer behind The Queen and Frost/Nixon movies, currently in talks with producer Jerry Weintraub, The Hollywood Reporter says.
86 year-old Hefner has already held a meeting with the screenwriter and then posted on his Twitter page that he “had a good meeting today with screenwriter Peter Morgan discussing a film about my life.”
The Hefner project yet has no cast or director attached to it. Various suggestions regarding who might play Hefner have appeared in the media. Tom Cruise, Hugh Jackman and Robert Downey have been mentioned as possible candidates for the part.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Hefner founded the famed men’s magazine in 1953 after he quit his job as a copywriter in Esquire. He still occupies the position of Chief Creative Officer of Playboy Enterprises.
Hefner is known for his passion for women, and is especially famous for his ‘Playboy Mansion’ parties in Beverly Hills, California.
The Playboy boss has recently reunited with his 26 years-old partner Crystal Harris.
Peter Morgan is also currently working on the script of a Freddie Mercury biopic featuring Sacha Baron Cohen.
