Watts for breakfast ... Wang Xianjun, 54, claims to have eaten 1500 light bulbs over his life after developing a liking for its crispness.

Sichuan Province resident Wang Xianjun, 54, is known for being an “eccentric.” However, the word eccentric barely begins to describe this unusual man, as Wang is a self-declared lightbulb eater with a penchant for glass.

Ever since Wang accidentally swallowed a fish bone 42 years ago, he’s had an affinity for lightbulbs. During an interview with the Metro newspaper, he said, “I accidentally swallowed a piece of thick fish bone, but nothing happened. With curiosity, I tried several pieces of broken glass secretly and nothing happened also.”

Since that uneventful day, Wang has been eating one lightbulb per day—which spread out over 42 years translates to over 15,000+ lightbulbs!

Wang first smashes each bulb into tiny glass pieces, and then proceeds to swallow each piece individually while sipping from a cup of water. And despite all the sharp glass circulating through his digestive tract, there have thus far been no negative side effects.

He added, “I only eat the light bulb during my breakfast, and each day no more than one bulb.”

When asked WHY he dines on lightbulbs, Wang calmly stated that they’re “crispy and delicious.” I prefer crunchy toast, but to each his own!
