The number of fake British passports involved in the Mossad assassination of a Hamas leader has doubled to 12, it was revealed last night.
Another 15 suspects were yesterday added to the wanted list over the killing of commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in a Dubai hotel – taking the total to 26.
Police in Dubai are convinced Israeli agents posing as western travellers carried out the hit last month.
They listed the names on the six newly identified false UK passports as: Daniel Marc Schnur, Gabriella Barney, Roy Allan Cannon, Stephen Keith Drake, Mark Sklur and Philip Carr. Officers said the other nine fakes comprised three each from Ireland, France and Australia.
Dubai authorities had already named 11 suspects using UK, Irish, French and German passports. They believe that the original six “Brits” had their identities cloned as they travelled through Tel Aviv airport.
One of the new suspects, Australianborn Israeli Adam Korman, said at home in Tel Aviv: “I’m in shock from what I’ve just heard. I can’t believe it. This is identity theft.”
Two Palestinians suspected of providing logistical support for the operation were yesterday in detention.
