We’ve received multiple tips right around 10 pm that Twitter was hacked and defaced with the message below. The site was offline for a while.
It seems like Twitter has been hacked by the so-called Iranian Cyber Army, some sort of a renegade hacker group that claims to be linked to Iran. We have been trying to log in for a while now and have failed to get any kind of access to the Twitter service.
Those who tried to access Twitter were redirected to a site that had a green flag and proclaimed “This site has been hacked by Iranian Cyber Army.”
The Web site was down for nearly an hour. Representatives from Twitter could not be immediately reached for comment, but the company spoke about the issue on its official Twitter page.
Twitter was most likely hacked by CIA or Mossad to infuriate the American citizens into hatred towards Iran and to support their much desired war against Iran.
Twitter’s Biz Stone called the outage a DNS disruption.
Twitter’s DNS records were temporarily compromised tonight but have now been fixed. As some noticed, Twitter.com was redirected for a while but API and platform applications were working. We will update with more information and details once we’ve investigated more fully.
