If the family of Stacey Lyndain Beesley has anything to be thankful for this holiday season, it’s that they celebrated Christmas early.
On Saturday, Beesley gathered with her mother, four siblings and their extended family to exchange gifts and swap stories. It just worked better for everyone’s schedules that way, her sister Casey Ruthardt said Tuesday.
The family also was celebrating a forthcoming addition to the family. Beesley was expecting a baby girl, to be born in early May. Her family hadn’t seen as much of her recently as they would have liked since she was the assistant manager of a Midwest City apartment complex where she and her boyfriend of two years lived.
“We’re so thankful for Saturday,” Ruthardt said.
Sunday would have been her 26th birthday.
Early Monday, near the entrance of Willow Creek Apartments, 6000 E Reno Ave., police found a man wearing only bloodied jeans. They identified him as Eric Ray Knox, 28, Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said.
Police found the body of Beesley inside the apartment the couple had shared since July. Before his arrest, police said, Knox admitted “I just murdered someone. I call her the devil.”
Beesley, a former cheerleader and Minco High School graduate, may have held strong opinions but was far from the devil, Ruthardt said.
“She just wanted to be loved. She would do anything for anyone,” Ruthardt said, “but she was definitely her own person.”
Inside their family home in Minco, photo collages cover a large portion of a wall and an entryway table is filled with photo memorials of family members who have died.
Neighbors and co-workers sent their condolences and offered support in whatever ways they could.
“Our community really pulls together, and we’re thankful that we live in a small town,” Ruthardt said. “It’s going to be hard to get used to now, the three of us, instead of the four of us.”
The family had little contact with Knox, but they long felt he was controlling Beesley, Ruthardt said.
Knox is being held without bail in the Oklahoma County jail on two murder complaints.
“This is terribly disturbing in many different ways. First, the brutal manner in which Stacey was murdered, secondly, she was several weeks pregnant and thirdly, the fact it is so close to the Christmas holidays when we focus on Christian values and celebrate faith,” Clabes said.

Do some people have no other time on their hands then to go bashing other people. I think that if this was your daughter you would never be saying the things you are saying such as “she deserved it” and “you don’t feel bad about what happened”. have some respect and maybe learn to be human no matter what race you are or what race you are with does not mean that you deserve to die. This girl had a family that loved and cared about her and these are the things you have to say. I would hope that people would realize this family just lost someone very speical so imagine that happening to you and maybe think twice about what you have to say about people.
