African watermelon seller wants to become mayor in Russian city of Volgograd
Will Russians vote for a watermelon seller who is also an immigrant as their mayor? In answer... most Russians regard this a "joke" The campaign to elect the municipal government of Russia’s Volgograd region has turned into a scandal. The candidates use all possible methods, including the racial issue, to attract electors’ attention, the Nezavisimaya Gazeta reports.
A black man of Guinea-Bissau, Joakim Krima, a 37-year-old graduate of the Volgograd Pedagogical University, set out his wish to run for the head of the regional government. The “black Russian” was born in Africa and moved to Russia’s Volgograd region 12 years ago. Negro Krima, who sells watermelons, refers to himself as a Russian citizen. He says that his name is Vasily Ivanovich (in honor of Vasily Chapayev, a legendary commander of the Red Army).
The billboards with Joakim Krima’s image and “The New Head of the Region” slogan have been erected along many regional highways recently. Local reporters have already dubbed him as “the Volgograd Obama.” Local people joke that if he is elected, he will work like a slave for the region, Pravda.Ru reports.
Krima always introduces himself as Vasily Ivanovich, using the Russian honorific of a Patronymic name. He took this name in honor of the famous Red Army commander during the Russian Civil War, Vasily Ivanovich Chapayev.
That says a lot about his character. The voters will have an excellent choice in Vasily Ivanovich. Russia’s population, like the land, is varied and diverse. There is opportunity for everyone, witness the fact that so many people have been and are moving to Russia to work and live.

I am amazed at american caucasians who claim this land as their own. You are not of the the heritage of this land.
